Why Play Car Games on FreeGame
Every car game here is free. You play right in your browser, with nothing to download and no account to make. Here's what else you get.
Not Just Racing
Sure, we've got plenty of racers. But you can also run a crane on a building site, chase down criminals as a cop, haul cargo over bumpy hills, or roll out in a tank. Some games even let your car change shape. In Car Robot Transform Fight, your car turns into a fighting robot. In Car Master: Transform Race, you swap to the right vehicle as the track changes, like a heavy road-clearer for paths covered in rocks.
Every Game Comes With a Guide
Each game page tells you how to play, with the keys for PC and the touch controls for mobile. A lot of them also explain the modes and share a few tips. So you won't waste time figuring out which button does what.
Modes and Upgrades
Lots of games give you coins when you finish a level. Use them to upgrade your engine, unlock new cars, or give your ride a fresh paint job. Some games also have more than one mode, like a laid-back free-roam mode and a level mode with goals to hit.

A Short History of Car Games
Driving games have been around almost since video games began. Here's a quick look at how we got from old arcade machines to 3D car games in a browser tab.
The Arcade Years (1970s-1980s)
Atari's Gran Trak 10 hit arcades in 1974. It had a real steering wheel, a gear shifter and pedals, but you only saw the track from above. Then in 1982, Namco's Pole Position put the camera behind the car, on a track based on Japan's Fuji Speedway. Sega's OutRun came along in 1986. You cruised in a red convertible, picked your route at forks in the road, and even chose the music on the radio.
The Jump to 3D (1990s)
In 1992, Sega's Virtua Racing showed what full 3D tracks could look like. That same year, Super Mario Kart added items and power-ups and turned racing into a party game. Gran Turismo landed on PlayStation in 1997 and went the other way, with real cars, tuning and realistic handling. Since then, most car games have leaned one of two ways: fun arcade racing or serious simulation.
Open Cities, Crashes and Tuning (2000s)
Grand Theft Auto III dropped you into a full 3D city in 2001, and driving was a big part of it. The same year, Burnout made crashing your car half the fun. In 2003, Need for Speed: Underground got millions of players into street racing and tuning their cars. A racetrack alone wasn't enough anymore. People wanted to drive anywhere and make the car their own.
From Flash to Every Screen (Today)
In the 2000s, Flash put parking, stunt and racing games all over the web. Plenty of people played their first car game in a browser at school or at work. Flash support ended in 2020, and browser games switched to HTML5 and WebGL, which can run smooth 3D on computers and phones. On mobile, Hill Climb Racing proved in 2012 that simple, physics-based driving works great on a touchscreen. You'll see a bit of each of these in the car games on FreeGame.
How to Play the Most Popular Car Games
These are the car games our players keep coming back to. Here's how each one works.
The Long Drive
It's a 3D city driving sim with two modes. In Free Mode, you drive around the city at your own pace, practice turns, U-turns and smooth braking, and pick up car parts along the way. In Level Mode, you follow the navigation, stick to the traffic rules and finish driving tasks to unlock new maps. Spend your rewards on upgrades and a new look for your car.
Controls: WASD to drive, Q and E for turn signals, F for the horn, R to reset.
Tip: Get a feel for the car in Free Mode first, and keep upgrading the engine so you can go faster.
Construction Simulator
Hop into cement mixers, cranes and other heavy machines and get real building jobs done, from moving steel beams to putting up whole buildings. You'll work on city skyscrapers, mountain bridges and more, and the physics make every load feel heavy.
Controls: WASD to drive.
Tip: Take it slow, and line up exactly before you load or unload.
Dr. Parking
Drive through a 3D parking lot and stop inside the marked spot. The first levels are just straight driving. Later ones make you reverse, move sideways and take sharp turns. Grab the keys in each level to unlock harder stages, and use your rewards to change your car's color and style.
Controls: WASD to drive.
Tip: Look at the whole lot before you move, and plan where you'll turn and back up.
Police Chase
You're the cop, and your job is to catch criminals on the city streets. Lock on, speed up and cut them off before they get away. Upgrades unlock faster police cars, new missions and new city maps.
Controls: WASD to drive.
Tip: Don't just follow behind. Get in front of them and block the road.
Tank Attack
Roll your tank over hills and valleys and take out every enemy tank on the map. Shots follow real physics, so you have to judge the angle and allow for gravity. Grab the high ground and fire from far away, or rush in close.
Controls: A and D to move, J to fire.
Tip: Get steady on a slope before you shoot. If your tank is tilted, your aim is too.
Real Drift Racing
Drift your way around a twisty track and make it to the finish in one piece. Hold the mouse as a turn starts to begin your drift, then let go at the end to straighten out. Every level gets a little more technical.
Controls: Hold to drift, release to straighten. Tap on mobile.
Tip: Keep your eyes on the road ahead, so the next bend doesn't catch you off guard.
Types of Car Games
Car games don't all play the same. Some are about speed. Others are about patience, aim or just messing around. Here are the main types you'll find on FreeGame.
Racing Games
The goal is simple: beat everyone to the finish line. In Racing Master 3D, you dodge traps, drift with Space and hit F for nitro to blow past rivals. Formula Rush puts you in a formula car, and you steer with the arrow keys or a quick swipe. Browse our racing games for plenty more tracks.
Drifting Games
Drifting means sliding the back of the car through a turn instead of steering hard. It's all about timing. Start sliding at the right moment and hold it through the whole turn. Real Drift Racing is a good one to start with. In Drive Mad 2, you drift with Space on crazy tracks full of rollers and swinging hammers. Check out our drifting games for more.
Parking Games
Parking games are the chill side of car games. Speed doesn't matter here. In Car Parking Simulator, you squeeze through narrow lanes and around barriers before pulling into the marked spot. Fish Parking sends you down twisty paths full of obstacles, so you'll need steady hands.
Driving and Open-World Games
Open-world car games have no finish line and no timer. In Extreme Car City Driving, you cruise around a huge city and earn coins from tasks like holding a steady speed through checkpoints or street racing. OTR Off-road Driving is a 4x4 sandbox where you crawl over rocks and up steep cliffs, and C switches the camera. See our driving games for more.
Stunt and Bike Games
Hit the ramp, catch some air and try to land without wiping out. Moto X3M Dead Ahead puts you on two wheels, with big jumps and hordes of monsters in your way. Truck Deliver 3D is way simpler. Just hold to drive your cargo truck over bumpy hills, and try not to drop any boxes.
Car Battle Games
In these games, your car is your weapon. In Bumper Car Demolition Race, you smash into opponents in pixel arenas and grab treasure chests for special skills. In Desert Riders: Car Battle, you aim and fire from an armored car while steering around rivers and cliffs. See our battle games for more.
Car Game Controls and Tips for Beginners
Most car games use the same handful of keys. Learn them once, and you can jump into almost any game.
Common Controls
- WASD or arrow keys: drive and steer
- Space: drift or handbrake in many racers
- F: nitro or speed boost in some games
- R: reset your car after a flip
- C: change the camera view
- Mouse click or hold: drive in simple one-button games
- Mobile: on-screen buttons, taps or swipes
Every game page lists its exact keys, so take a look there if something doesn't work the way you expect.
Tips to Drive Better
Brake before the corner, not in the middle of it. Try a free-roam mode first to get a feel for the car before you race. Put your first rewards into speed and handling. And if you get stuck or flip over, just hit reset instead of starting the level again.

What is the most popular car game right now?
Here are the car games players on FreeGame are playing most right now:
Are there car games where you can just drive around?
Definitely. The Long Drive has a Free Mode with no time limit, where you drive around the city, practice turns and collect parts. Extreme Car City Driving gives you a big city map, and you can take on tasks whenever you feel like it. If you'd rather go off-road, OTR Off-road Driving lets you climb rocks and steep cliffs in a 4x4.
Which car games let you customize or upgrade your car?
Quite a few. In The Long Drive, you collect parts and spend rewards on upgrades and a new look. Dr. Parking lets you repaint your car and change its style. Police Chase unlocks faster police cars as you upgrade. Car Driving Crash Party lets you boost speed, armor and damage, and in Desert Riders: Car Battle you can upgrade both your weapons and your car.

Yes. In Car Driving Crash Party's collision mode, you ram rivals and knock them out until you're the last car left. Bumper Car Demolition Race throws you into pixel arenas, where treasure chests give you special skills. Desert Riders: Car Battle is more about shooting, since you aim and fire from an armored car.
Are there car games that are not racing?
Lots. Dr. Parking and Fish Parking are about being precise, not fast. Construction Simulator has you running cranes and cement mixers on building jobs. Truck Deliver 3D is all about getting your cargo over bumpy hills without dropping a box. And in Farmers.io, you drive a harvester and try to collect more crops than everyone else. Our simulation games have more slow-paced driving.
What are good car games for kids?
Simple one-button games are best for younger players. Truck Deliver 3D only needs you to press and hold. Car Master: Transform Race works with clicks or taps. The early levels of Dr. Parking are slow and easy, so they're good for learning to steer. There's no sign-up, so kids never have to enter any personal info.
